With the school year under way and the students settled in, the parents of Summerhill International School students were invited to visit the school to have a closer look.

Every year around this time, Summerhill hosts its annual open house and social night. Not only is this a great time for parents to get to know the teachers a little better, but it’s also a great environment for families who are new to the school or new to Tokyo altogether to make new acquaintances.

This year’s event was a big success. Many people came and helped to make it a memorable night. On hand were a variety of foods, including spare ribs, hummus, yakitori, pasta, and a selection of cheeses, as well as an assortment of wines and drinks from around the world. All in all, the night was a big success thanks in part to the staff of Summerhill, but mostly due to the wonderful support of the families.

In addition to its regular program, Summerhill International School, in Moto-Azabu, also provides a series of after-school programs for children 4–12 years old. Programs include Advanced English and Homework Aid, English as a Second Language, Jolly Phonics, Art, and Japanese Immersion. Classic ballet classes are also available. or more information see http://www.summerhill.jp or telephone the school on 03-3453-0811. — JEFF KRATZ
