St. Alban’s Nursery: A summer of fire and volcanoes

St. Alban’s Nursery summer program starts on Monday, June 11 and will run until Friday, July 6, from 9:30am–1:30pm.

The program gets off to an exciting start with a fun and very hands on visit from the Tokyo Fire Department and one of their fire trucks. Students will then explore the futuristic and always popular world of robots, and study movement in a range of different ways. They’ll dive into history in the third week, and learn about ancient castles and royalty, from fable to fact. During the last week they will explore the sunny summertime fun of Hawaii, learning all about Hawaii’s unique eco-system types, from flowers to volcanoes.

As a grand finale to the summer program, the school will have a big luau for children and parents, in their lovely, leafy playground.

In other news, the children’s exhibition in April was a huge success, and thanks go to all the talented and creative children for their beautiful work. Last month the school celebrated Children’s Day by making beautiful “koinobori” (carp streamer) to decorate the playground. The children were also very creative with their Mother’s Day cards and gifts they made last month. Students have been enjoying the lovely weather, with lots of outdoor water play, and getting ready for their end-of-year outing to Legoland, as well as the end-of-year concert at the chapel. — GILMA COPELAND-YAMAMOTO
