Poppins Active Learning International School open houses

Poppins Active Learning International School (PALIS) opened its doors on April 1 this year. A new choice for internationally minded families, PALIS is an international, comprehensive preschool and kindergarten learning institute, built on the strong foundation of Poppins International Preschool (PIPS), which has been operating at the same bright location in Ebisu, Tokyo since 1997. PALIS is part of Poppins, which has a 27-year history of running 138 nurseries across Japan and Hawaii, and is a sister school to a very popular Poppins Active School in Midtown.

The new PALIS is focusing on students in the age range of 11 months to 5 years old, using the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to guide their instruction. EYFS features a balanced mixture of both teacher/specialist-delivered curriculum, and student self-guided exploration and discovery.

Each student’s attainment of their goals is built upon ongoing observation and assessment of three prime and four specific areas of learning, and three characteristics of effective learning. The three prime areas of learning are Communication and Language; Physical Development; and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. The specific areas of learning are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design; and the characteristics of effective learning are playing and exploring, active learning, and creating and thinking critically.

Poppins is committed to a high standard of global education and holds annual trainings for staff at Harvard, Stanford, and Norland College in the UK.

PALIS is holding three open houses on three Saturdays in a row this month: June 7, 14, and 21, to show the new classrooms and maths and science facilities. Please contact PALIS Principal Bill Ward at [email protected] to join the fun.
