Asian Review Deputy Editor inspires NewIS students

On Friday August 29, the secondary students from New International School of Japan (NewIS) met with Mr. Kenji Kawase, Deputy Editor of the Asian Review, published by Nikkei Inc. Posted primarily in the Bangkok office, he visited the school during one of his trips to Tokyo to talk about his experiences as a journalist.

He spoke about many things, such as visiting different people to interview them, covering the anti-Japan demonstration in Shanghai in 2005, and his experience during the most recent coup in Thailand. He also talked about how he obtained his position after college. The students eagerly asked him many questions about his occupation.

I thought it was inspiring how he had worked hard to obtain the kind of job he had wanted since he was in junior high school. It was very interesting to learn about his experience as a journalist, and the things he does in his work are fascinating. — KARINA MILLER, GRADE 9, NEWIS
