The British School in Tokyo opens new purpose built facilities at Showa campus

With the introduction of the new Sixth Form at the British School in Tokyo (BST) in September 2010, plans were approved to expand the facilities at the Showa Campus for both the Upper Primary and Secondary schools.

Wednesday June 15th 2011 marks the official opening of the purpose built facilities which will be attended by BST families and invited dignitaries.  Along with the brand new Information, Computers and Technology (ICT) suite, there is a ‘state of the art’ drama suite which will be used extensively by GCSE students in the lead up to their June exams.

The Sixth Formers now have their own study and common rooms and everyone on site is excited about the new Senior library which is extensively stocked with both fiction and non-fiction titles. The extended facilities mean that Upper Primary now has more space in which to expand.  There are new changing rooms along with a Photography Lab for the Photography GCSE being offered from September 2011.

An Open Day for the general public is planned to showcase the extended facilities in October 2011, more details of which will be available closer to the time.
