The Aoba-Japan International School (A-JIS) community has begun ongoing efforts to provide relief for the people of Japan affected by the earthquake and tsunami of March 11.  Through a number of fundraising events and activities, A-JIS has been able to contribute significant funds to both the Japanese Red Cross Society and UNICEF Japan.

In addition, the A-JIS community came together to assemble a large number of hygiene and cleaning kits that were distributed to people in the worst affected areas. Each hygiene kit consisted of two towels, four toothbrushes, a tube of toothpaste, two bars of soap, and two combs/brushes.

A-JIS has further fundraising events and activities planned that will carry through until the end of the school year.  For more information on A-JIS relief efforts, please see the A-JIS website: http://www.aobajapan.jp. — NEAL DILK
